Twenty Three Months Today!

Marcus is twenty three months old today - his second birthday is just a few weeks away and he is now a proper little boy!
He continues to be helpful and likes routine. One of his favourite expressions in 'oh no' (with a slight northern twang) if something is not quite right.

I made a list of the words he had - and the number surprised Sam and I . He has over 30 commonly used words and around 25 less frequently used words - although we still hear no and more the most!
Waving, accompanied by a very deep 'bye' signals leaving - people, train, cars and the dustmen! Marcus has taken to calling everyone Nanny - possibly because he hears Theo saying nanny, but who knows?

Bin day is very exciting - and a new word this month is 'tip' accompanied by an appropriate hand action to make sure we understand.
Toilet training is going well - Marcus uses the potty every morning after his bath - the first time he did this he appeared behind me with a full potty excitedly saying 'I did it'.  He also tells us when he is about to or already has pooed - so his awareness is good. We have a hitch in as much as he doesn't like the big boy pants we bought - but we will work on that!

Marcus can take off socks, trousers and loose tops himself and can get one arm into his coat. He can pull tops over his head but needs help with sleeves still.

His new kitchen is his favourite toy at the moment - followed by the workbench, scooter and duplo train that Deb and Jim bought him. He can fit the duplo blocks together competently so Sam thinks he will be ready for the duplo train track by his birthday. Role play and dressing up is becoming popular too! Marcus has also started taking an interest in drawing at last!

Marcus had his first trip to A&E this month - today in fact, because he had lacerated his chin on a slide at the Soft Play Centre. The staff tried to glue it , which was unsuccessful, so he will start his last month as a one year old with a trip to surgery!
