Number 1 cut into grass at the Olympic stadium, to mark one year to go

July 27, 2011 - One year to go before the opening ceremony at the 80,000-seat Olympic Stadium.
Today London 2012 has declared the Olympic aquatic centre open for business - the last of the six permanent Olympic Park venues to finish construction.
Amazingly plans seem to be running to time so far.

Pip's Graduation Party

Pip didn't want to have a formal graduation this year - so we hosted a Graduation Party for her. We had a BBQ and fun with bubbles, finishing up by watching 'The Graduate' on Sam's projector in the evening. It was a great evening and we all had fun as the pictures show!

Sam loves the way you can see the house reflected in a bubble!

Blogger seems broken - older posts not showing now for some reason - and I have blogged quite a bit in the last few days :-(

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse has been found dead and it is being treated as unexplained. She was only 27, but had battled with drugs and alcohol addiction. Guessing one of these will turn out to be cause of death.
Seems a waste of a life and a talent - she had a  great voice when on top form.

Oslo bombing and Utoya massacre, Norway

Anders Breivik killed 76 people in a two pronged attack - first a bomb in Oslo followed by shooting on an island which was holding a Labour Party Youth Camp. Breivik attacked because he believes the Norwegian Labour Party's liberal immigration laws are treason.   
His lawyer provided revealing insights into the man who planned his mass attack over nine years.
"He hates anyone who is not an extremist," Mr Lippestad said."Anyone who believes in democracy, he hates. Anyone who believes in the values of democracy, he hates." His lawyer is advising him to plead insanity.
