Rat Hammock

The boys had had fun with their hammock while Sam and I were away on holiday -

So decided it was time to make them a couple of new ones!
This is how I did it - in-case anyone else ever needs to make one too!

Cut two rectangles of fabric, the size you want your hammock to be. I have used a cotton fabric for the outside (part of an old curtain) and a piece of old fleece blanket for the inside. Put them together, right sides facing.
Next cut 4 pieces of cotton tape to make hanging loops. Fold it in half and place one on each corner between the two pieces of fabric, with the two ends to the corner and the folded part to the middle.Pin everything together.

Stitch round the four sides, catching the cotton tape in at the corners. Leave a gap for turning right side out.

Stitch across the four corners a couple of times for added strength then trim off the corner close to stitching to reduce the bulk.
Turn right side out and hand stitch gap closed.
Put a clip on each corner for hanging the hammock. attach to bars of cage.

Then just add one happy rat!
