Scarves

I have taken to wearing scarves and have collected quite a few now - mostly from charity shops. I have had two that have been real bargains - a silk Laura Ashley scarf that was 99p and another silk one by German company Fraas, also for 99p - both would have been around £20.00 new.
I have googled different ways to wear scarves and found some good sites to help me tie them in a flattering way. I took a cotton one away on holiday with us - and found it useful both as a scarf and a wrap for the cool evenings.

Poor Sam!

Sam picked up a nasty bug from the plane and started being sick and having an upset tummy at about 2am Monday morning. She couldn't even keep a spoonful of water down.
I took her to A and E at about 8am where she was given a tablet to dissolve in her cheek to stop the vomiting and then re-hydrated. The tablet worked very effectively and she was able to go home to sleep. By the evening she was able to have a light meal and felt much recovered.

Winter Holiday

Sam and I had a lovely week in Costa Teguise in Lanzarote. We had an apartment but were all inclusive so we had the benefit of the extra room as well as all our food, drink and snacks. The food was great, the apartment comfortable and the complex good - with the exception of the evening entertainment! We took to playing cards and having a drink in the apartment in the evenings.

Sam swam a couple of times in the sea as well as in the pool. We also did quite a bit of walking as there were some signed routes to follow.

The weather was great - with temperatures up to about 30 degrees - so coming home to snow was a bit of a shock! Charlotte had spent the week at out house looking after the dogs - who have been thoroughly spoilt!   (Photos to follow!)

Mothers Day

          

Today was Mothers Day. Pip and Liam came to stay yesterday and bought Sam and I some beautiful tulips and wax flowers from M and S. They (Pip and Liam, not the tulips) spent the night and this morning with us - which was really lovely.







This afternoon we collected Charlotte and went to Mums for afternoon tea. Most of the family were gathered and we had fun chatting and eating delicious food. Mum had made three different cakes -  a lemon drizzle, a Victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries and a cookie cake made with home made cookies. They were equally delicious!

Charlotte bought me some lovely flowers too - tulips, but a different colour to the ones from Pip and Liam, and also some cream roses. I added the roses to the flowers Sam sent last week when I was sick.
 I had a nice message from Robin too - which completed an enjoyable day!

                                                                                                         

Sickness

It has been a time of sickness - Dad and Claire have both been in hospital and I have had a cold , which started as a sniffle then turned into a full blown cough, cold and sore throat.

Dad went into hospital with chest pains. They said at first it was his heart, then muscular and later a possible blood clot in his lung. He was in hospital a week, had a barrage of test and in the end they found nothing of note.

Claire was admitted to hospital with a chest infection and fluid on the lung. After some tests she was told her cancer is back on the chest wall and related to her breast cancer. She will start more chemo in three weeks time.

I came home from work sick on Tuesday - and am only just starting to feel well today. Sam sent me some lovely flowers to cheer me up.
