Clever Sam

The pop up waste in the en suite has been failing to pop up for some time. Sam fiddled with it a while back and it worked partially but has totally given up the ghost now. She dismantled the mechanism and realized part of it had corroded away. The local plumbing shop could only offer a total replacement at £12.00 so Sam found the bit we needed on line at £5.00 including postage. Before we ordered we decided to pop into the Bath Store and ask if they did the part - the women went out the back and found us what we needed - for free!
The rod was a little longer than the old one so Sam cut it down - five minutes later we had a fully functioning pop up waste again!

The Men are Ready for the Wedding Too

We went to MK today to help the men in the family get kitted out for the wedding. Simon, Steven, Shaun and Dad all got new suits, shirts and ties - they all look very smart.

Casey Gets Bronze

Casey passed her Bronze Test this evening - in only five lessons. She was a little star and did everything I asked her to and sailed through the test. We will get our certificate next week.

Fun Weekend

Our weekend started early - on Friday. Sam had a Microsoft exam so wasn't in work and I finished at lunch time. Sam caught the train into Luton and did the exam - she passed! This is the first of three she needs to take. She also had her promotion confirmed this week - she is Head of New Business and will be getting her own team.
When I got home from work we had a nice chat on Skype with Vickie and Jerry and had lunch. After lunch we went to do our shopping and took the dogs for a nice walk on Warden Hills. We spent the evening watching some TV.
On Saturday we had a lazy morning and a good sleep in. Then we pottered off to Sundon Hills Country Park (see previous post). We again spent the evening cuddled up on the sofa watching some TV (not Eurovision song contest which neither of us like).
On Sunday we went to two carboots. The first at Lewsey Park where I got some hardly worn Clarks sandals for £1.00 and Sam got a vanity case also for £1.00 - she wants to store her vaping stuff in it away from the dogs. My sandals fit a treat and are just what I wanted. After lunch we popped over to the Redbourn carboot. We got a few more bargains here - Sam got a brand new Trespass waterproof coat for £1.00 (RRP £59.99) it still had the tissue round the toggles. We found a nice three peaks dog coat for Casey - also £1.00 (£15.00 in Pets at Home). We got a kitten toy for Sally's new kitten and two cushion inners that I can use the stuffing from. All in all a good trip.
While we were at the carboot Charlotte rang to say her and Ian had locked themselves out. We collected our spare keys then went to collect her so she could get in and get their car keys so they could take the car home. They had both been at a party and Charlotte looked pretty wrecked (Sam says I should put tired). Whilst at Charlotte's we popped into Sally's to see the new kitten and give her the toy. The kitten is called Rue and is very pretty.

Little Rue

The sun had come out in the afternoon so we took the dogs up onto the Downs where they had a great walk - which ended in a bath! Pixel rolled in a cow pat and Casey sat in one so they both smelt disgusting! We finished the weekend with a roast dinner and some TV.

Sundon Hills Country Park

We had a lovely walk this afternoon in the Country Park. Part of the walk was on leads because it went through sheep fields but the rest of the time the dogs were running free and exploring. Although it wasn't sunny the weather was dry and warm. We also had a little drive through Harlington - which is where we would like to live one day. All tired out when we got home!

Skirt Alterations

I have altered three skirts today on my new sewing machine - and they all fit now so I will be able to wear them. I have a little waist so they all needed taking in a bit so they sit correctly. I have another skirt that needs shortening - so that will be my next project.

Sally, Jayne, Charlotte, Mum and I went into MK today to buy our wedding outfits ready for Louise and Andy's wedding in July.

We all managed to get something we love - Jayne got two dresses!

Bank Holiday Weekend

Friday - Sam was off today and I finished at lunch time. We had lunch together - home made vegetable soup and then went to visit Mum and Dad. We had bought Mum a new laptop as she has outgrown the basic starter one we bought her two years ago. The new one, a HP, is much faster and runs windows 8. After a quick tutorial we leave her to enjoy it!

Saturday - we take the dogs for a quick walk on Blow's Downs. Casey found a tennis ball which she enjoyed playing with. The ball went into a bush - Casey went in after it and had a fit under the bush. She recovered quickly and we continued our walk.
Sam and I then drove to Leighton Buzzard to collect Charlotte and go and get some bunny food from the farm shop. We then had a picnic lunch sitting by the canal in the sunshine. After lunch Sam and I drove to MK and I had a look in Hobbycraft (disappointing) and Laura Ashley where I bought some lovely fabric in the sale. I am planning to make a skirt with it.

Sunday - Sam went walking with Pixel, Kate and Harry - I took Casey for a nice walk on her own. She was a good girl and enjoyed playing with her ball. Pixel was also a good boy on his walk - and came back when called.

Sam and I then went to the car boot at Redborne and got a few bargains. We each got a top - mine 50p and Sam's 40p. I got a Karen Millen silk dress for £2.00 - sadly too small for me but should fit Charlotte. Sam found a body composition analyser for £1.00 and a dog ball launcher. She also got a quicksilver rucksack which she knocked the lady down to 50p for. Altogether a good morning. It was very hot and Sam caught the sun and ended up a bit pink! Mum popped over with a carrot cake for Sam - her favourite!

Monday - Sam popped over to sort Mum's laptop out - one of the cats had put it in flight mode so she couldn't get on the internet. Dad was gloating as it is usually him with an IT problem!
We had a lovely BBQ this afternoon for Charlotte's birthday - the weather was perfect and we had a great time. Charlotte's friends Rick and Claire joined us. The dogs were very well behaved around people and food. Sam and I took the dogs for a walk up on the Downs in the evening - a lovely end to the weekend.

Charlotte's Birthday

Charlotte's 28th Birthday today - where did those years go? We are going shopping on Friday for her gift from Sam and I. Her present from Vickie and Jerry arrived today - some nice clothes from Marks. Charlotte was very pleased with them. She had a nice Chinese meal in the evening with Ian.
