Hospital Day Two

Little Rowan spent twelve hours under the lamp and then his levels were tested. They had come down so he was monitored for the next few hours to check they were staying down. As they did he was able to go home!
The paediatrician said the spots were milk spots and nothing to worry about and that his blood tests showed no sign of infection - hooray!

Rob and Hanna popped to say hello before heading home - hopefully to stay this time!

Hospital Admission

Poor little Rowan was admitted to hospital today - he was very sleepy and Hanna couldn't wake him up. The hospital admitted him to treat his jaundice with light therapy and to give him some fluids. Rowan has lost 10% of his birth weight so the paediatrician was considering tube feeding him.

Robin went to visit this evening and said he is responding to the treatment and has been feeding well. Hanna's milk has come in now which should help him put some weight on.

Hopefully they will be able to go home tomorrow.

Early Days

Marcus and I have been going over to Lidlington this week to help Hanna with Theo and baby Rowan. Poor Hanna has had a bad head and ear ache and her GP diagnosed and ear and respiratory tract infection - which she now has some antibiotics for. Hopefully she will feel better soon. Theo has been very good with the baby and Marcus is fascinated with his new nephew! The midwife felt Rowan had a touch of jaundice and suggested feeding him lots and putting him in the sunshine.

New Grandson

It has been a difficult week - ending with the birth of our beautiful new grandson, Rowan Jack Cook. Hanna was admitted into hospital on Tuesday evening and Theo came to stay with us. Hanna was first induced on Wednesday, Theo's third Birthday, but baby Rowan didn't put in an appearance until 3am on Monday morning. He weighed in at 8lb 8oz, two weeks early!
Sam and I both went up to visit and meet him and congratulate Robin and Hanna.

Visit to Aunty Pip

We drove down to Lymington to spend a day with Pip. She was very pleased to see Marcus. The weather was beautiful so we all went for a lovely walk down to the harbour.

Eight Months Today

Marcus is eight months today. He is crawling everywhere now and can negotiate the step into the conservatory. Marcus loves to be on his feet and will take every opportunity to stand up. He still loves singing - especially Twinkle Twinkle and Incy Wincy. He has moved into his big cot - but is still in our room as a night feed is still on the menu!
Today Marcus showed us that he is able to go from crawling to sitting up and he enjoys clapping his hands. Bathtime remains a favourite activity.
